DIY Flower Monogram Letter

Here's another easy tutorial. Create a flower monogram letter for your wall collage, nursery wall, or even your front door.

Supplies needed:

  • Cardboard (the size you want your letter)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Fake flowers (Hobby Lobby has the best selection for the price...and they are usually 50% off!)
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon (to hang letter on wall)

Step 1: Plug in your glue gun so it can heat up!

Step 2: IMG_2654Using your scissors, cut the cardboard into the shape of the letter you want.  Make sure there is extra space between lines so that when the flowers are glued on and hang over the edge of the letter, there is still empty space to see the outline of the letter.  For example, with the letter E, if the 3 horizontal lines don't have enough space between, you may end up with a big floral rectangle.  You want to make sure you can distinguish between lines so it looks like a letter.

Step 3: flowerstemCut the stems off the flowers and glue onto the cardboard.  When you cut the stems, make sure to leave as much of the cupped part of the stem as you can because that is what holds the petals together.  You will need to use lots of glue to adhere the flower to the cardboard, especially if it is a large flower with a tall profile.  Start by gluing the larger, statement flowers.  Spread them out, and then glue accent flowers around them.  You will want to glue the flowers on the edge so they spill over and hide the cardboard.

Step 4: IMG_2651On the back, hot glue a ribbon to hang the letter on the wall.

You're done!  I hung my letter inside an empty frame.  You can pick up cool frames at thrift stores for pennies.  Happy (frugal) decorating!
