Check out my latest before & after! I painted some Fisher-Price Little People to look like Catholic figures: priests, altar servers, a nun, a monk, a bishop, and a cardinal! I even found a Little Tikes toy house at a thrift store that I turned into a church!
This was a pretty fun project! I love trying to incorporate our faith into anything our kids play with, and this was an easy way to do it!
I painted the Little People with those inexpensive acrylic craft paints, the ones in the little bottles at the craft store, and finished them off with the same sealant that I use on my peg dolls, a craft varnish like this one.
I printed out some images to turn the windows of the church into “stained glass” windows, added an image of a tabernacle, added a couple plastic crucifixes on the inside and outside, and pulled together some furniture for the sanctuary and confessional!
To my surprise, the craft paint and varnish I used has lasted a long time! I painted these a couple years ago (and am finally getting around to posting about it!), and they’ve held up to years of abuse: being tossed around, thrown into a big box of toys, getting scratched up…and the paint is still intact!

INDIVIDUAL BEFORE & AFTERS
Here’s the priest!
And another priest (I had to improvise…it isn’t easy to turn a cell phone into a chalice!)…
A nun with her books…
The bishop…again, a little creativity was required to make a miter and crozier!
The cardinal…maybe Cardinal Robert Sarah?! He’s my favorite!
Our altar servers!
Isn’t he so cute?!
And one of the seven dwarfs has a new vocation!
…Sorry about the blurry shot!
